Guru Gobind Singh Ji’s Short Biography A splendid Divine Light shone in the darkness of the night.  Pir Bhikan Shah  a Muslim mystic performed his prayers in that direction, and guided by this Divine Light, he travelled with a group of his followers until he reached Patna Sahib in Bihar. It was here that  Gobind Rai Ji was born to Mata Gujri in 1666.  Pir Bhikan Shah approached the child and offered two bowls of milk, signifying both the great religions of Hinduism and Islam. The child smiled and placed his hands on both bowls. The Pir bowed in utter humility and reverence to the new Prophet of all humanity. Guru Gobind Singh Ji was born with a holy mission of which he tells us in his autobiography “Bachitar Natak” (Wonderous Drama). ਸਾਖੀ – ਗੁਰੂ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਸਿੰਘ ਜੀ ਅਤੇ ਕਾਜ਼ੀ ਸਲਾਰਦੀਨ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਅਨੰਦਪੁਰ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਵਿਚ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਸਿੰਘ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਜੀ ਦੀ ਸ਼ਰਨ ਵਿਚ ਇਕ ਸਲਾਰਦੀਨ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਕਾਜ਼ੀ ਗੁਰਦੇਵ ਦੇ ਦਰਸ਼ਨ ਲਈ ਆਇਆ। ਉਸਨੇ ਵੇਖਿਆ ਕਿ ਸਭ ਦੇਸ਼ਾਂ-ਪ੍ਰਦੇਸ਼ਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਸੰਗਤਾਂ ਆ ਕੇ ਭੇਟਾਵਾਂ ਅੱਗੇ ਧਰ ਕੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਮਹਾਰਾਜ ਦੇ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਚਰਨ-ਕਮਲਾਂ ‘ਤੇ ਨਮਸਕਾਰਾਂ ਕਰਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਸਭ ਦੀਆਂ ਮਨੋਂ-ਕਾਮਨਾਵਾਂ ਪੂਰਨ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਵਰ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਦੇ ਹਨ। ਸਲਾਰਦੀਨ ਕਾਜ਼ੀ ਨੇ ਸ਼ੰਕਾ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਕਿਹਾ,  ”ਇਤਨੀ ਸੰਗਤ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਕੋਲ ਆਉਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਅਰਦਾਸ ਕਰਦੀ ਹੈ, ਬੇਨਤੀ ਕਰਦੀ ਹੈ। ਤੁਸੀਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਅਸੀਸ ਦੇ ਕੇ ਕੀ ਕਰ ਦੇਂਦੇ ਹੋ?  ਮੈਂ ਇਸ ਗੱਲ ਦਾ ਮਨੋਰਥ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਮਝਿਆ  ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਖ਼ੁਦਾ ਨੇ ਜੋ ਕਰਮਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਲਿਖਣਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਤਾਂ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਹੀ ਲਿਖ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ।”  ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਨੇ ਕਾਜ਼ੀ ਦੀ ਤਸੱਲੀ ਕਰਵਾਉਣ ਲਈ ਤੋਸ਼ੇਖ਼ਾਨੇ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਇਕ ਸਫ਼ੈਦ ਕਾਗਜ਼, ਮੋਹਰ ਅਤੇ ਸਿਆਹੀ ਮੰਗਵਾਈ ਤੇ ਕਾਜ਼ੀ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਹਾ, ”ਇਸ ਮੋਹਰ ਦੇ ਅੱਖਰ ਪੜ੍ਹੋ।” ਤਾਂ ਕਾਜ਼ੀ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ, ”ਜੀ ਪੁਠੇ ਹੋਣ ਕਰਕੇ ਪੜ੍ਹੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਂਦੇ।” ਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਨੇ ਮੋਹਰ ਨਾਲ ਸਿਆਹੀ ਲਾ ਕੇ ਕਾਗਜ਼ ‘ਤੇ ਠੱਪਾ ਲਾਇਆ, ਤਾਂ ਕਾਜ਼ੀ ਨੇ ਝੱਟ ਪੜ੍ਹ ਦਿੱਤੇ : ”ਅਸੀਂ ਪ੍ਰਮੇਸ਼ਰ ਦੇ ਭਾਣੇ ਤੋਂ ਉਲਟ ਨਹੀਂ ਚਲਦੇ, ਇਹ ਗੁਰੂ ਨਾਨਕ ਦਾ ਘਰ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਆਪ ਨਿਰੰਕਾਰ ਦਾ ਰੂਪ ਧਾਰ ਕੇ ਜਗਤ ਨੂੰ ਤਾਰਨ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਜਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਆਏ

SIKHISM - BASIC OVERVIEW Every thing you want to know about....  Who are Sikhs? Sikhs are a people sharing common religious, social and political institutions. Twenty six million people worldwide identify or associate themselves with the Sikh faith, making it the fifth largest world-religion. The word "Sikh" means disciple of the True Perfect Guru. A Sikh is a person whose sole faith consists of the belief in One God and who follows the teachings of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Jee , the present Guru of Sikhs. Sikhism is a monotheistic faith that was founded by the first Sikh Guru, Guru Nanak Sahib Jee (1469 - 1539), and shaped by his nine successors in the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries in South Asia. Sikhism is not a sect of Hinduism or Islam, or synthesis of these two faiths. Who and what is a Guru? 'Guru' literally means 'the Dispeller of Darkness'. 'Gu' means light, and 'Rū' means darkness, representing that the Guru dispel
